Rev. Ralph Cline was a student at Bryan College when he and Marion Woollen met. They were married June 22, 1936 in Graysville, TN where he was pastoring a church. He was a Methodist minister, serving as a circuit preacher at Burnett Chapel and Webb's Creek in the Smoky Mountains at the time of his death.
He and Marion adopted twin sons, John Mark and James Phillip, when they were 8 mos. old.
OBITUARY
Rev. Ralph E. Cline, born Feb 19, 1911 died May 30, 1991.
He was presently serving as minister of Pittman Center Circuit of Sevier County. He had served over 50 years in the Methodist Holston Conference.
He was formerly of the Lake City area where he had pastored the Briceville Methodist Church for 15 years; also serving Sinking Springs and Heiskel Methodist Churches. While at Briceville he did missionary work at Braden's Flats and Duncan Flats. He had also pastored Jacksboro and Mt. Zion Methodist Churches. He left here in 1962 to go to Pittman Center where at his death he had four churches.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion W. Cline, who taught school in this area for several years; sister, Ruby Swafford; brothers, Oscar, Fred and Donald Cline; sister-in-law Pauline Cline; devoted friends, Bud and Mary Allen.
Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Friday at Rawlings Chapel with Rev. Robert Gilbert and Roger Adkins officiating. Interment was 2 p.m. Saturday at Buttram Cemetery, Dayton, Tennessee. Rawlings of Sevierville in charge.
