Marshall Mountain Wave~
June 14,1902~Local~Thursday at 1 o'clock, Newton Davis, living four miles east of town on Davis creek died very suddenly here of heart failure. He was a young man about 21 years of age and had suffered with heart failure for a number of years, and had come to town on Thursday after a doctor for a neighbor, and also to get medicine for himself. On the advise of his physician he was waiting until it was cooler before starting for home, and had stepped into the post office and taken a chair when attention was attracted to him by his labored breathing and before a doctor could be summoned to his aid he had breathed his last. His remains were taken to the Watts Cemetery in the Cove, where they were laid to rest Friday. The bereaved have the sympathy of all.
