MR AND MRS JACOB SORENSEN CELEBRATE THEIR DIAMOND WEDDING JUBILEE

The Diamond wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs Jacob Sorenson was celebrated Friday March 20th at the home of Mrs Selma Gibbie.

Mr Sorensen spent his boyhood assisting his father on a farm in Denmark, received his schooling there and taught school for one year. At the age of twenty-one he married a neighbor's daughter, Matilda Peterson. A family wedding was given in honor of the couple after which they moved to the city of Aarhus, Denmark, where they operated an apartment house. At this time they began investigating the Later Day Saints religion. becoming members of the church and immigrating to Utah, July 29 1880. They made their home in Castle Dale Utah, where Mr Sorenson operated a planing mill and became a general builder and contractor. In 1903 the Church called Mr Sorenson among others to settle in Canada. He took a homestead about 14 miles east of Claresholm and moved his family to it in 1904. Mr and Mrs Sorenson devoted much time to religious and community affairs as long as their health permitted.

Mr and Mrs Sorenson are the parents of fourteen children, eight of whom are living. They are:

Mrs Emma Miller (of Salt Lake City)
Mrs Anena Larsen (of Salt Lake City)
Mrs Elva Whitehead (of Salt Lake City)
Mrs Eva Ellingson (of Salt Lake City)

Mrs Blanch Whitehead (of Claresholm)
Mrs Selma Gibble (of Claresholm)
32 grandchildren & 24 great-grandchildren
