She worked briefly in Calgary and returned to Claresholm where she worked in a local bank branch.
At the start of WWI she met Robert (Bob) Dougall, a young training pilot from the Claresholm, RCAF training base. They married in December, 1944.
After the war they moved to Edmonton where Bob trained and became a physician. They had 3 daughter and one son. Heather died at age 10 years from cancer.
In 1979 they returned to Claresholm to take care of Miriam's Mom and Bob was able to work in the local medical facilities.
