RUEPKE
Nellie Ruepke was born October 4, 1890, to Green B. and Ruby Myers King in Coffey, Mo. She was one of nine children. She attended school in Coffey, Mo.
She was united in marriage to Herman W. Ruepke on November 6, 1915 in Trenton, Mo. and raised three children: Beatrice, Harold and Betty.
The family lived in Milan, Mo. for 24 years and then they moved to Humeston, Iowa and Nellie and Betty were baptized in the Baptist Church there in 1947.
The family then moved to Chariton where Nellie attended the Church of the Nazarene until her health failed. A telephone line was installed in the house with a radio-type speaker so that she could listen to the morning worship services from the church each Sunday morning.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Herman; a daughter, Beatrice; and a grandson, John. She is survived by her son, Harold Ruepke of Chariton; her daughter, Betty Brown of Des Moines; a sister, Tressie Beck of Ava, Mo.; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Nellie died at Lucas County Memorial Hospital April 30, 1984, at 4:30 a.m., at the age of 93.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 2, 1984, at the Fielding Funeral Home with Pastor Gene Phillips officiating. Interment was in the Chariton Cemetery.
