He was born in 1901 in Ft. Dodge, Iowa to James and Betty Burns Banks. At the age of 19 he was blinded in a mine explosion, and became a piano tuner and musician. He moved to California five years ago, and was featured on several radio programs.
He is survived by three sisters: Mrs. Ethel Stevens of the home in Redding, Mrs. Martin Larsen of Fonda, Iowa, and Mrs. Jennie Larsen of Newell, Iowa.
