Born in Morganton NC son of Alfred and Kathleen Seahorn Singleton-Ray was a veteran of the US Air Force where he served as a navigator in Western Asia from 1942-1945 and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross-He was married to Ruby Blalock Singleton for fifty six years
