Lowell B. Houser, age 86, of Ankeny, Iowa, died on Sunday, February 8, 2004, at his son's home in Ankeny. He was born the son of Alfred "Clayton" and Edna(Kelley)Houser on June 12, 1917 in Centerville, Iowa. He received his education at Cormbread School in rural Appanoose County.

On December 31, 1937, Lowell was united in marriage to Faye Gibson in Ottumwa, Iowa. During his lifetime, he was a foundry worker at Hercules, a guard at the Ft. Madison Prison, a farmer in southeast Iowa, and prior to retiring, a Tech at Diamond Labs Farm in Warren County. His hobbies include gardening, woodworking, and playing the organ and violin uke.

Lowell was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Faye Houser in September of 1990; sons Gary Houser in July 1962 and Dr. Larry Houser in January 1997; brothers, Rex, Alfred and Leo Houser; and sister, Dorothy Fenton.

He is survived by his son, Norman Houser and his wife, Myra of Ankeny, Iowa; 4 granddaughters, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandson.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2004 at 11 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Lloyd Johnston officiating. Burial will follow at the Mr. Ararat Cemetery east of Centerville, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 from 1 pm till 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa, the family will be present from 9 am till the time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to the Mercy Hospice and can be left at the funeral home.
