Hope Hyatt Baum, 76, of 1420 Garnet St. died April 29, 2000, at St. Mary Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral Wednesday, both at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Walla Walla, and visitation will be from 5-8 p.m.
Tuesday at Bishop Funeral Chapel, 131 S.E. Byers Ave., Pendleton. The graveside service will 3 p.m. Wednesday at Skyview Memorial Park Cemetery, Pendleton.
Mrs. Baum was born Sept. 25, 1923, in Shelley, Idaho, to Robert and Hazel Nielson Hyatt. She was raised in Shelley and graduated from high school in 1941. She attended nursing school in Pocatello, Idaho. Her first husband was Duff Severe; they later divorced.
She moved to Pendleton and worked at St. Anthony's Hospital.
On Nov. 22, 1973, she married Percy Baum in Pendleton. They moved to Walla Walla in 1987.
Her life centered on her family and membership in the Mormon Church, where she held many leadership roles. Among her diverse interests were a love of music. She was an excellent cook and prolific reader and demonstrated a compassionate, selfless service to friends, family and the community.
Survivors include her husband, at home; two sons, Danny Baum and Casey Severe, both of Pendleton; five daughters, Margo Hope of Salt Lake City, Billy Dawn Lohman of San Diego, Bobby Dee Severe and Virginia Severe, both of Pendleton, and Kelly Severe of St. Charles, Mich.; 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
