After the boys finished college, Bill and Lela moved to Muleshoe where he did dryland farming. But the urge was on him to farm more acreage and he wanted to try irrigation methods so they moved to Colorado. It was while they lived there that he became ill. He was being treated at the well-known Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Texas when he died.
