Merkel, TX -- Willie Jo Orsborn, 88, died Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at a local nursing center. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 19th at the Merkel First United Methodist Church with Reverend Horace Abbott officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Willie Jo was born October 22, 1921 in Merkel to Benedick Harrison and Fannie Bell (Blair) Riney. She married W. T. Perry January 14, 1940 at Newby and they were blessed with two daughters, Carole and Dianne. W. T. preceded her in death March 17, 1963. She married Ray Orsborn July 18, 1966 in Merkel. With the marriage of Ray another family was joined together with children, Dennis, Velma and Barbara. Ray preceded her in death January 17, 1990. Willie Joe graduated from Merkel High School and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker who made wonderful chocolate and fried pies, and she loved to crochet.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Carole Hart and husband Bob of Granbury, Dianne Michal of Albuquerque, NM; 2 grandchildren, Sheila Duran and Taylor Rust; 1 great granddaughter, Raegan Rust; a son Dennis Orsborn and wife Pam of Merkel; a daughter,Velma Martin and husband Joe of Abilene; son-in-law, Dalton Pentecost of Abilene; and 8 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; a granddaughter, Sharon Michal; a daughter, Barbara Pentecost; and a grandson, Cody.
