Green River Sun Obituaries; Thursday, 13 August 2009 13:39Audrey Pickett Akin, Greensburg, daughter of the late Kenneth "Boss" Pickett and Sarah Ellen Dudley Pickett, was born April 26, 1927 in Green County and departed this life Tuesday, Aug. 4 at her home. Akin made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Summersville Church of the Nazarene. She was a past machine operator for Fruit of the Loom, Inc. and American Needlecraft. She was a certified nursing assistant and did various other jobs throughout her life. Akin united in marriage to Curtis S. "Goat" Akin Jan. 24, 1942, who preceded her in death Oct. 27, 1999. Akin was also preceded in death by one grandson, Timothy Tucker; two great-grandchildren, Carrie Beams and Aaron Beams; a son-in-law, William Luttrell; and four brothers and a sister, Lindsey Pickett, Raymond Pickett, Lloyd Pickett, Gordon Pickett and Myrtle Whitlock. Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law, Carolyn and Edward Loyall, Summersville, Brenda Luttrell, Greensburg, Connie and Gary Henderson, Summersville, and Kathy and Jim Compton, Greensburg; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Winfred Bonta, Greensburg; three sisters-in-law, Edith Pickett and Ann Akin, both of Greensburg, and Marie Thompson, Campbellsville; 10 grandchildren, Sandy Cavven, Freddie Scott, Coy Scott, Jackie Beams, Johnnie Scott, Karen Allen, Lisa Milby, Jason Henderson, Patrick Henderson and Steve Luttrell; 15 great-grandchildren, Joseph Tucker, Jonathan Willis, Jamie Benningfield, Stephanie Calhoun, Jacob Buchanan, Andrew Scott, Allie Scott, Cynthia Scott, Cody Scott, Anna Scott, Noah Scott, Brandon Milby, Blaize Henderson, Sadie Martin and Kasey Luttrell; two great-great-grandchildren, Kelsea Rayann Murphy and Jack Tucker; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at 12 noon Friday, Aug. 7, 2009 at Summersville Church of the Nazarene by Bro. Rod Walley, Patrick Henderson and Jonathan Willis, with burial in Green County Memory Gardens. Pallbearers: Coy Scott, Freddie Scott, Joey Tucker, Patrick Henderson, Jason Henderson and Steve Luttrell. Honorary Pallbearers: Granddaughters, Great-grandchildren and Great-great-grandchildren.
