Mr. Alexander was a founding member and partner in the law firm of Kreig, Devault, Alexander, and Capehart. He specialized in banking and financial law and retired from the firm in 1986. He had worked as a director of Ross Gear and Tool Co. in Lafayette from 1949-1964, and was a director of TRW Inc. in Cleveland from 1964-1983. He was a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church in Lafayette, Purdue Alumni Association, and Purdue's Presidents Council. He was
also a member of the Indianapolis Museum of Art, Indiana State Symphony Society, Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana, Children's Museum, Conner Prairie Farm and Contemporary Club. He was past secretary and former member of the board of directors for the Indianapolis Indians.
Surviving are two sons, David L. Alexander of Lafayette and Stephen R. Alexander of Indianapolis; a brother, George E. Alexander of Bloomington, IN; a sister, Martha Barbee of Seattle, WA; and four grandchildren. Service Aug. 2, St. John's Episcopal Church; internment Rest Haven Memorial Park.
