Benjamin F. Layman, a well known retired farmer, died this morning at 2:40 o'clock at his residence , 44 Clayton Avenue, of a complication of rheumatism, stomach trouble and low blood pressure. He was ill for two years and bedfast for the last eight weeks. He was 75 years old on the 8th of last February.

Surviving Mr. Layman are his wife, who was formerly Miss Catherine Detrick of Greencastel and who has been an invalid for the last three years, and five children: Miss Hazel at home; Mrs. Ernest Baker, 41 Clayton Avenue; John W., South Church Street; Bruce C., west of town, and Charles D. layman , north of town; two brothers, Andrew J., Long Beach, California, and Harvey layman, East Fifth Street.

Mr. Layman was the son of William and Catherine (Hess) Layman and was born in Frederick County, Md. He farmed for a number of years below Ringgold, Md., afterward for seven years tenanted the Strickler farm, east of town. For the past fifteen years he lived retired in Waynesboro. He was a member of the Harbaugh Reformed Church, but later transferred his membership to Trinity Reformed Church. He was a man of exemplary character and a good citizen, loyal to his family, his church and all of his other interests.

The funeral service will be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the house, conducted by Rev. S. E. Loback and Rev. J. E. Guy. burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery.
