He taught in Jefferson High School in portland Ore for 27 years and was principal for one year. upon his retirement, he and the principal under whom he had worked form many years were honored by Jefferson High School Reunion which was attended by 5,000 former students and friends. Arba and Eleanor were Baptists. He served as Moderator of Highland Baptist Church in Portland Ore for many years and as Moderator of the Willamette Baptist Association in 1948.
