Mrs. John Sidney Gatti, the former Mary Elizabeth Pou (Mimi) died March 12, 2010, in Natchitoches, Louisiana after a year long illness.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. on Monday, March 15, 2010, at Osborn Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 2010, in Couch Chapel of First United Methodist Church of Shreveport with Dr. Pat Day officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park Cemetery, East.

Mrs. Gatti was born in Waynesboro, Mississippi on July 23, 1924 to Marie Smith Pou and Percy Wallace Pou.

Upon graduation from C.E. Byrd High School, she graduated from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. She became a teacher with the Caddo Parish School Board. Mrs. Gatti was awarded Teacher of the Year in 1971. After her retirement in 1981, she volunteered at Schumpert Hospital as a Pink Lady. Mrs. Gatti was a dedicated and lifelong member of First United Methodist Church and a member of the Maida Mickle Sunday School Class. She was a proud and devoted mother, grandmother and aunt.

Mrs. Gatti is survived by her son Hal Wallace Gatti, daughter Gwen Gatti Scott and her husband Emmett Allison Scott, Jr. Her grandchildren are Dr. May Scott Thomassee and husband, Dr. Eric Thomassee, Anne Marie Scott and Emmett Allison Scott III (AI) and great grandson Caleb Scott, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express thanks to Thompson Home Health Hospice of Natchitoches, Nurse Pam and her caretaker Melissa and the Schumpert Cancer Treatment Center.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church of Shreveport, Louisiana. Honorary Pallbearers include Lamar Stall, Billy Smith, Brian Tannehill, John French, Dooley Fowler, Odis Faust, Max Upchurch and Guy Shackelford.
