Known children of William and Harriet Clow were Thomas Barclay Clow (born 6/15/1855); Sarah Ann (12/25/1857 - 1/12/1896), married W.H. Haslam; Emma Elizabeth (7/23/1858 - 10/29/1927), married William Black; Maria Douglass Clow (2/27/1864 - 1934), married Frank A. Murby; Henry Bowlsworth Clow (7/30/1861 - 5/5/1938); Frank W. (2/7/1868), married Rose Girard; Alice M. (1873-1948), married George H. O. Milette. Most (if not all) the children were born in Portsmouth, NH.
Moving the family to Manchester, William established one of the first hosiery mills in the state. In 1883 he relocated to Lakeport and with his son, Henry B., became partner in establishing the Wm. Clow and Son Hosiery Mill here.
William purchased Little Island on Paugus Bay from William Black (his son-in-law) in 1895, and he and son, Henry retained ownership until 1918. During that time it became known as Clow Island, although its official name has always been Little Island.
