Sarah Clay 'Sally' Ricker was born March 1, 1873, in Osage County, Missouri, daughter of Frederick Ricker (1844-1874) and Mary Elimbitt Barnhart (1847-1883).

On March 13, 1890, in Maries County, Missouri, Sally married James McNeil Seaton, who was born June 5, 1866, in Osage County, Missouri, son of Reverend Benjamin Seaton (1834-1924) and Mary Jane Babb (1842-1919). Sally and James had 14 children: Albert Seaton (1883-1971), Lydie Seaton (1891-1978), Sadie Seaton (1891- ), Albert Seaton (1893- ), Lark Daniel Seaton (1894-1897), Clara Seaton (1895-1990), Fred Seaton (1899-1979), Desire Seaton (1901- ), Dica Seaton (1902-1968), Ruth Seaton (1903-1983), James Robert Seaton (1905-1909), Iva Seaton (1908-1964), Everett Seaton (1911-1986), and Homer Seaton (1915-1995).

In 1930, James, a farmer, age 63, born in Missouri; and his wife, Sally, age 56, born in Missouri; were living in Fields Creek, Missouri (Henry County). The census shows that James and Sally were ages 24 and 17, respectively, when they married. Only three of their children were living with them: Everett, age 19; Homer, age 15; and Ethel, age 11; all born in Missouri. Living next door was James and Sally's son, Fred Seaton, a farmer, age 31, born in Missouri; with his wife, Dorothy, and daughter, Eleanor.

Sally died February 4, 1948 in Clinton, Missouri (Henry County) and was buried there in Englewood Cemetery. James died 2 1/2 months later on April 21, 1948, in Clinton, Missouri and was buried beside his wife.
