Lucy Ortiz was born on 13 September 1887 to Pentiz (Present) Ortiz and Josephine Granzie in Lemhi, Lemhi, Idaho.
The 1900 US Census shows Lucy (age 11) living in Gibbonsville, Lemhi, Idaho with her widowed mother Josephine Ortiz age 46 and her two brothers Lewis 16 & Charles 14 years old.
Lucy married Wilfred Trahan on 3 September 1906 in Frenchtown, Missoula, Montana when she was 19 years old. Her brother Lewis Ortiz was one of the witnesses.
The 1910 US census shows them living in Ross Fork, Bannock, Idaho with two children; William Trahan three & Josephine Trahan one year old.
Lucy & Wilfred Trahan separated about 1916 and the Idaho, Marriage Index, 1842-1996 shows Lucy Trahan being married to George Eichelberger on 29 May 1917 in Madison, Idaho with their place of residence being Blackfoot, Bingham, Idaho.
A Death Certificate for George Eichelberger shows him being born on 12 April 1919 in Pocatello to George Eichelberger & Lucy Ortiz. He died on 13 April 1919 in Pocatello, Bannock, Idaho and was buried there on 15 April 1919 in the Mountain View Cemetery.
The 1920 Census shows Wilfred Trahan being married to Edna M Spooner in Montana.
Lucy’s son William born on 2 May 1907 died on 30 November 1920 in Blackfoot, Idaho from an accidental gunshot wound to the head. He was 13 years old. William was buried on 3 December 1920 in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Idaho Falls, Idaho.
The Idaho, Select Marriages Index, 1903-1942 Shows Lucy M. Eichelberger marrying Levi Vernal on 6 December 1921 in Blackfoot, Bingham, Idaho.
The 1930 US census lists Lucy Vernal living in Blackfoot, Bingham, Idaho as the head of the home with her husband Levi Vernal and four children: daughter Josephne Trujillo age 23, Edward Trahan 20, Laurinda Trahan 15 and Rosita Vernal age 3 born in Idaho. Levi was born in Colorado to parents from Spain. Lucy is listed as being ½ Indian and her children ¼ Indian.
