Rachel Dodson
Rachel Marian Dodson, widow of Levi Dodson, died at 5:45 o'clock Sunday afternoon at St. Mary's hospital. She would have been seventy-five years old in December. Her death was due to complications incident to advanced age. She had been seriously ill for almost two months and had been in the hospital for five weeks.
Mrs. Dodson was born in Collinsville, Ill., Dec. 3, 1849. She had been a resident of Decatur for the last forty years and was well known among the old people of the city. She was twice married. Her first husband was Joseph Whittington. He died many years ago. She and Levi Dodson were married twenty years ago, and he also preceded her in death. She is survived by the following children; William Whittington and Elizabeth Houston, both of Decatur, Mrs. Etta Klein of Spokane, Wash., and Mrs. Alice McMurray of Springield, Mo. There are nine grand-children and five great grandchildren.
The body was removed to the Moran & Sons undertakig establishment and prepared for burial.
