Leila R. Hurd, 77 of 30 S. Carlisle Street, Greencastle died at 9:10 P.M. Monday in the Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown. She had been in failing health for the past month and was critically ill since bieng admitted to the Hospital Dec 13.
Mrs. Hurd was born in Waynesboro Nov 11, 1903 daughter of the late Howard F. and Susan F. (Radle) Morganthall. Her early life was lived in Waynesboro and Rouzerville. She made her home in Greencastle for the past 25 years.
As a young woman she worked at the Waynesboro Knitting Mill and for a number of years was employed at the L'Agilon Co., in Hagerstown. Prior to her retirement in 1965 she last worked at the Asba Co. in Greencastle.
She was a member of the Greencastle Church of the Brethren.
She is survived by these children, Mrs. John W. Rowe Jr. Hagerstown, R. D. 6, Cletus L. Hurd and E. Richard Hurd, both of Waynesboro. Mrs. Donald Myers, Greencastle and Mrs. Lenora Fischer, Eugene Or. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and four sisters Mrs. Bertha Fuller, Baltimore, Mrs. Margaret Kauffman, Mont Alto, Mrs. Lillian Willman of Hagerstown and Mrs. Laura Yeager Waynesboro.
Services will be held Friday at 2 P.M. in the Grove Funeral Home in charge of the Rev.
