Leland Rosco Glasscock - was born July 9, 1934 in Wesley, Oklahoma to Herman O. and Violet V. Stites Glasscock. He departed this life on June 21, 2008 in Mountain View Healthcare, Mountain View, Missouri at the age of 73. Lucky was married to R. Christine Mullenax on April 26, 1955 in Mobile, Alabama until her death on October 22, 1993. He was then married to Helen Irene McDuffee on November 13, 1994 in Mountain View, Missouri until her death. Lucky spent his teen years working ranches in Oklahoma and Texas until he entered military service. He served with distinction in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired from the United States Navy in 1972, being a founding member of the Navy Special Warfare Command. Entering civilian life, Lucky graduated from the University of South Alabama with a double major in English Literature and Criminal Justice. He retired a second time from Montgomery Ward as Regional Director of Loss Prevention. At which time he returned to Missouri and began his last career as a cowboy poet and a published author. His greatest joys were fishing, reading, and family. Lucky was a member of National Association of Chiefs of Police, founder of the Mobile Association of Retail Security, American Society of Industrial Security, American Legion, American Association of Modern Day Veterans, Lion's Club, and Missouri's Cowboy Poet Society. He will be remembered most as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Survivors include two sons, Leland R. Glasscock of Mountain View, Missouri and Steven W. Glasscock of Richfield, Minnesota; his stepmother, Minnie Glasscock of Springfield, Missouri; two sisters, Viana Martin of Arkansas and Kathy Collins of Springfield; two brothers, Tom Glasscock of Ashville, South Carolina and Ray Glasscock of Springfield; four grandchildren, Andrew and Christine Glasscock, of Mountain View, Cindy Glasscock of Mobile, Alabama and Michael Glasscock of New Auburn, Wisconsin. He is preceded in death by his wives; parents; three brothers, Donald, Roy and Troy Glasscock; and one son, William Glasscock. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2008 in Yarber Mortuary, Mountain View, Missouri with Pastor Harold Smith officiating. Military honors were under the direction of Missouri Military Funeral Honors Program.
