Bartholomew Shea Dies In New Haven

Bartholomew Shea, a former resident of this city, died at New Haven. Saturday, after a long Illness, aged 81 years [1846]. He was born in Ireland and came to this city a few years ago. He resided here for a short time before moving to New Haven. The body was brought to this city and conveyed by the John R. Smith Co., Undertaker, to the home of his sister, Mrs John P. Riordan, 36 Winter street, from where the funeral will be held tomorrow morning with a high mass of requiem at St. Bernard's church, at 9 o'clock. The burial will be in St. Bernard's cemetery.

He is survived by his mother, three brothers and two sisters in Ireland and four sisters in this city. He is survived by three brothers, Patrick, Michael and Timothy Shea, of Ireland; six sisters, Misses Catherine and Alice Shea of Ireland; Mrs. J. P. Riordan and Mrs. Patrick Casey of this city; Misses Hannah Shea of Boston and Bridget Shea of New York.

Funeral of Bartholomew Shea

The funeral of Bartholomew Shea, formerly of this city, who died at New Haven, Saturday, was held from the home of his sister, Mrs. John P. Riordan, 26 Winter street, today, with a solemn high mass of requiem at St. Bernard's church at 9 o'clock. The mass was celebrated by Rev. Francis A. Kelly, assisted by Rev. Andrew A. Martin, deacon, and Rev. Francis J. Carroll, sub deacon.

The church contained a large congregation. The floral offerings were also beautiful and numerous. The bearers were Daniel McCarthy, Jeremiah Moriarty, John P. Riordan, Philip J. O'Grady, Francis B. Riordan and Edward H. O'Grady The burial was in St. Bernard's cemetery where Rev. Ft. Carroll officiated.
