The following is the obituary published in the Memphis Democrat: Bessie V. Ferguson, 84, of Memphis, Missouri, passed away at 1:20 a.m. on Tuesday, August 22, 1978, at the Kirksville Osteopathic Hospital in Kirksville, Missouri. Mrs. Ferguson was born November 14, 1893, in Scotland County, Missouri, the daughter of George W. and Anna Tackaberry Rugh. she married Arthur W. Ferguson on May 25, 1918. She was a member of the Prairie View Methodist Church, where she was Sunday School Superintendent for many years and served on the Scotland County Larger Parish Board. Surviving are three children, Vema Rude; Robert E. and wife, Irene; and C. Dean, and wife Joan Ferguson, all of Memphis, Missouri; one brother, Tom G. Rugh of Cantril, Iowa; ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends. preceding her in death were her father and mother, an infant daughter, her husband, a brother Ivan, and a sister Fern. She was a very loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be sadly missed by her family and everyone who knewher. funeral services were Thursday, August 24, 1978 in the Gerth & Baskett Funeral Chapel, Memphis, Missouri. The Reverend Elmer Revelle officiated. Burial was in the Prairie View Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons. Mary Belle Greeno furnished the music and Carol Burrus sant. Pallbears were Raymond Robinson, James Parrish, Jerry Anderson, Tom LaFrenz, Don Burrus and Bill Byrn.
