Born in Sacramento and attended local schools, graduating from Sacramento High School in 1947. She passed away from results of a fall from her hospital bed. Edith was a friend of all those she met and especially those who were in need, as she continually donated to many charities. She was preceded in passing by her father Harold A. Rodness; her mother Margaret Anderson and her former husband Harold S. Vail. She is survived by her sister Ruth Harris (Gene), Ruth's four sons, Mel, Rod, Ken, and Dan, and their families. She retired in 1984 from a 34-year career at McClellan A.F.B., as a bookkeeper in the finance division. She had been an avid bowler and golfer. Her dog Jasper was her current passion.
A private memorial celebration was held at her grave site in East Lawn Memorial Park, Folsom Blvd.
