He was given a Masonic funeral and he was a Confederate soldier in the 27th Arkansas Infantry, ( Index to Arkansas Confederate Soldiers, Volume III, P-Z, Page 189 shows Wolf, Asa M: Co. H; 27 Ark Inf: Pvt/Pvt.)Private—Enlisted in Izard county, Arkansas, February 25, 1863; age 19; present, February 29, 1864.
He apparently died soon after his marriage and birth of his daughter who also died before adulthood. His widow, Nancy Elizabeth Chastain Wolf then married 2nd to David K. Finley who also died and she married a third time to Isaac Riley Kellough Luther. No burial site can be established for Nancy though it is known that she died in 1912.
Azariah Wolf and David K.Finley were in the same unit. They were close friends.
