He married Mattie Jeanette Vaughn on November 4, 1906, in Fannin County, Texas. On September 12, 1918, he registered for the World War I Draft. By 1930, he and his family were residing in Childress County, Texas. He and Mattie later moved to Wellington, Texas. They are the parents of seven children: 5 boys, 2 girls.
