Born Jan. 4, 1938, in Chicago, he graduated from Crown Point High School in 1957 and moved to Kentland in 1961. He married Estella Pfiffner on Feb. 4, 1960, in Cedar Lake. She survives.
Mr. Habenicht owned and operated Harry's Plumbing in Kentland for 25 years.
He served in the Army from November 1956 until November 1959 in Taiwan in the Pacific theater. He also served in the Marine Corps Reserves for 1 1/2 years. He was a member of Amerian Legion Post 23 in Kentland.
Surviving with his wife are a son, Brian Habenicht (wife: Debbie) of St. John; and two sisters, Harriet Ashton (husband: Gene) of Lowell and Marilyn Habenicht of Sullivan, Ill. Also surviving is a granddaughter. Preceded in death by a daughter, Joanne Habenicht; his parents, Harry and Adeline Wensloff Habenicht; a sister, Ruth Mosier.
