David Allen married Jennie Bass Simpson on 4 September 1884 at Cleburne, Texas.
Services for David "Uncle Dink" Allen were held in the Newcastle Methodist church and officiated by Rev. I.W. Lawrence, preacher of the Newcastle Baptist Church. Mr. Allen died at the home of a daughter. He was brought to Young County at the age of two months following the death of his mother. He was raised by his uncle, Harry D. Williams. Mr. Allen lived in the Belknap Community all of his life until he moved to San Antonio to live with his daughter. He served as Young County jailer for seven years.
Survived by one daughter - Mrs. Vina McCarty and one son - Harry Allen.
He was preceded in death by two sons - Phillip Simpson Allen and Roland Terrell Allen who were killed in World War I in France and two sons - Will Harrison Allen and Roland Terrell Allen who were killed in the Newcastle mines.
