The Sanderson Family came to the US from Canada, farming in the community of Trail, Dakota Territory in 1880 where Thomas was Born. (Found on the 1880 US Census at 3 mos old)

As a young man, Thomas moved to Minnesota where he met and married Petrina Mathison and went to work for the Great Northern Railroad as a Boilermaster. Although he registered for the draft, he was never called up.

He and Petrina had seven children, 3 boys - Thomas Milton (known as Milton or 'Sox"), Donald W. (WWII Vet), Fred E.,and 4 girls - Hazel, Eva, Faye, and Iris.
