Mrs. Caroline Emery of Keyesport Dies Decedent Was Mother Of Mrs. D. A. Wise of this City Greenville Advocate Jan 13, 1918.
Mrs. Caroline Emery, mother of Mrs. D. A. Wise of this city, died at St. Mary's hospital at Carlyle at 10:15 a.m. last Monday, after an illness of over a year with paralysis. She had been in the hospital at Carlyle for a year. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the M. E. Church South in Keyesport by the pastor, Rev. Phillips, of Odin, with burial in the Duncan cemetery. Mrs. Emery's maiden name was Caroline Apple, she being a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John S. Apple. She was born January 17, 1836 in Hancock county, Indiana, near Indianapolis and was aged 82 years on her last birthday. When 18 years of age she was married to James A. Emery who died 14 years ago. Surviving her are two sons, Clint and H. C. Emery of Keyesport and three daughters, Mrs. D. A. Wise of this city, Mrs. Anna McCracken of Bethalto, and Mrs. Ella Hargis of Shelbyville, Tenn. She is also survived by three brothers, Cass Apple of St. Louis, J. S. Apple of Keyesport and R. J. Apple of Tamalco, and by two sisters, Mrs. Eddvina KESNER of Carlyle
and Mrs. Mary Owens of Missouri. Mrs. McCracken and son and daughter, Jake Apple and son of Bethalto, Mrs. L. L. PRUITT of Centralia, Cash Emery of Camp Stanley, Texas, Case Apple of St. Louis, and Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Wise and family, Dr. and Mrs. B. E. Wise and Mrs. James Death Caryle, Clinton, Illinois, United States MULFORD of this city attended the funeral.
