"Laura," her husband, MA Avinger, and their young daughter, Pattie Ann, moved from San Angelo, Texas where she worked for a local paper, to Washington, D.C. in the late 1930's to work for the federal government. They raised their family of two girls, Pattie Ann and Joyce Eloise, in a house in Silver Spring, MD that was still owned by a grandson as late as 2010.
