Emma was the daughter of Jacob Elijah & Pernecia Jane (Myatt) Kesner. She married Richard Johnson Apple 25 Dec 1878 in Bond County, IL.

Mrs. Emma Apple Of Bethalto Dies

Mrs. Emma Catherine Apple, 80, who had been in failing health since Christmas Day when she fell at her home, 308 Mill, died Thursday at 5:20 p.m. in Alton Memorial Hospital. She had been a patient in the hospital since last Monday.

In the fall Mrs. Apple suffered a sprained ligament and recently complications developed and she entered the hospital for X-ray examination.

Mrs. Apple was born Dec. 3, 1860 at Keysport, Ill. She had resided in Bethalto for the past 21 years. She was the widow of Johnson Apple.

Surviving are two sons, Clay R. Apple, Chevy Chase, Md., E. K. Apple, Alton, and four daughters, Miss Octa Apple, Bethalto; Mrs. Pearl Alexander, Keyesport; Mrs. H. C. Hord, Boulder, and Mrs. C. H. Dixon, Springfield. Two sons preceded her in death. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs M. Davis, Centralia, and Mrs. Henry Riddick, California, 22 grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

Mrs. Apple was a member of the Christian Church at Tamalco, Ill.

Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Catherine Apple, 80, of Bethalto will be conducted Sunday afternoon. Brief rites will be held at noon Sunday at the residence after which the body will be taken to Tamalco, in Bond County, for services at 2 p. m. in First Christian Church. Burial will be in Duncan Cemetery, near Tamalco. The body was moved today from Streeper funeral home to the residence, where friends may call after 5 p. m.
