She was born September 17, 1929 in Nashville, TN, the daughter of Edward and Lucy (Lorance) Baker. She married John Pitts on May 29, 1942 in Council Grove. They lived and raised their family in Morris County.
Mary enjoyed crocheting, singing, playing the organ, cooking, gospel music, spending time with her family, and serving the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, brother Martin and son James.
Mary is survived by her children: Mary Varelman, Eddie Pitts, Millie Sample (Bruce), John Pitts (Mary) and Randy Pitts (Darlene); 8 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sister Joy Lorance; and brother Edward Baker.
A Celebration of Mary's life will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, September 6th, at Yazel-Megli-Zeiner Funeral Home in Council Grove. A private burial will follow at Four Mile Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Buck Animal Welfare Fund.
