Ruby Lee Powell, 84, died Monday, Feb. 27, 2006.

She was born April 10, 1921. She was a loving and devoted mother and friend. No one ever met her without admiring and loving her. She touched many lives. People confided in her and loved her. She took many people under her wing and cared for them. She was a forgiving person, always turning the other cheek. She also was a wonderful listener. To those who knew her, she was the kindest and sweetest person they had met. She was of a pure heart. She always depended on the Lord. She had a great spiritual strength and was full of love. To her children, she was a friend and always there for them. She retired as a title examiner from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles after 25 years of dedicated service. She leaves behind five children, Janice Maria Bragg, Ruby Diane Roland Barber (and husband Marty), William Stancill (and wife Marge), Vernon Eugene Stancill and Susan Elaine Harrell (and husband Eddie); eight grandchildren, Jason Roland, Jeremy Roland, Roy Bragg, Carlton Thompson, Jennifer Lee Ouzts, Megan S. Walls, Shawn Stancill and Alan Harrell; seven great-grandchildren, Taylor Bragg, Chaz Roland, Jillian Roland, Cody Roland, Hunter Thompson, Serena Thompson and Lane Ouzts; two loving sisters, Georgie Glover and Helen Duncan; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Attis and Nellie Core; two brothers, R.T. and D.C. Core; and two sisters, Emma Core and Vivian Spooner. "True Christian: pure of Spirit." Published in the Tallahassee Democrat on 3/1/2006.
