Pine Plains Register, 31 May 1923: Mrs. John R. Thompson Sr. passed away at her late home on Monday afternoon in her 85th year. Mrs. Thompson has been a patient sufferer for many months, being entirely helpless of late, and while her death was expected at any time, it came as a great surprise to many friends. The funeral services, which were private, were held at the home at E. Main St., in charge of Rev. J.J. Cowles, on Thursday afternoon at 1:30. Interment in the Amenia Island Cemetery. Unnnumbered friends extend heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family in their great loss.
