ENOREE-- Mr. Cecil Dean Bishop, Sr., age 98, of 320 New Hope Church Road passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at National Healthcare of Laurens.
He was the son of the late Rufus Alonzo and Lillie Maude Mabry Bishop. He was a retired cattle farmer and a retail store owner in Cross Anchor, a member of New Hope Baptist Church - Cross Anchor, Charter member of Cross Anchor Ruritan Club and a United States WWII Navy veteran having served in the Pacific on the Sub-chaser from 1942 until 1945.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Haynes Bishop of the home, two sons, Cecil Dean Bishop Jr. {Theresa} of Madison, GA, Bruce Haynes Bishop {Barbara} of Pauline; one daughter, Marian Elizabeth Robinson {William} of Greer and son-in-law, Ronnie Godfrey of Cross Anchor; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Also preceded in death is a daughter, Beth Godfrey, infant son and infant daughter; four brothers, Raymond, Bob, Joe and Frank Bishop.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:45 AM on Friday, July 14, 2017 at New Hope Baptist Church prior to the funeral service at 11:00 AM with Rev. Danny Monroe and Rev. Jimmie Farmer officiating.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors.
