Zephier Fontaine, a resident of this Crookston vicinity for the past 63 years, died early this morning at the home of his son, Adelard J. Fontaine, where he had been making his home. Mrs. Fontaine, 83, became ill last October and died of old age complications.
Born in Quebec on August 26, 1861, he came to Crookston in 1862, from Rhode Island. For many years he operated a farm here, moving into the city in 1906. He retired 15 years ago from active work.
Survivors include five sons; Henry, Philip, Adelard and Louis of Crookston, and Joseph of Red Lake Falls; two daughters, Mrs. Edgar Gervais and Mrs. Ed Prudhomme, both of Crookston; one brother and two sisters; 24 grand children, and 11 great grandchildren. Mrs. Fontaine died in 1935.
