PENDLETON - Alla Mae Hicks, 86, of Pendleton died Friday, March 5, 2010, at her home. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 10 at Pendleton Pioneer Chapel, Folsom-Bishop. Memorial services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First Church of God in Pendleton. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Vancouver, Wash.
Mrs. Hicks was born Aug. 13, 1923, in Chandler, Okla., to Daniel and Blanche (Miller) Tipton. She graduated from Cushing High School in Cushing, Okla., in 1940. She married Nickola Hicks in 1945 in Portland.
She worked as an overhead crane operator in the ship yards during World War II and as a bookkeeper for A-1 Upholstery in Pendleton.
Survivors include her husband, Nick Hicks of Pendleton; sons D. Kent Hicks of Vancouver, Wash., and N. Brent Hicks of Mission Viejo, Calif.; daughter Beckie Anderson of Tigard; sisters Dorothy Headrick of Vancouver, Wash., Frances Depew of Beaverton and Kathryn T. Ball of Oklahoma City, Okla.; brother Dan E. Tipton of Oklahoma City; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Luke Livecy, and sister Tippy Garrettson.
Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International, Camp White Branch, for the Churches of God of Oregon and Washington.
