He was born on June 1, 1938 in Stanley and was a son of the late Everett Lee and Recie Gay Pettit Aleshire.
Mr. Aleshire was a manager of Investors Loan in Luray from 1965-1970, after which he worked as a Union Carpenter until 1978. He was employed in the maintenance department at Shenandoah National Park for 20 years, retiring on June 1, 1998. He was a member of the New Market Eagles 4264 and the Luray Moose Lodge 1413 and was an Army veteran.
On June 23, 1993, he married the former Linda Kay Dodson, who died on Sept. 17, 2003.
He is survived by a son, Monte Lee Aleshire and wife, Jackie M. Aleshire of Stanley; a brother, Glenwood G. Aleshire of Stanley; a sister, Judy Stoneberger of Stanley and two granddaughters, Alyssa Aleshire and Michele Aleshire, both of Stanley.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p. m. on Saturday, June 9, 2007, at the Bradley Funeral Home by Pastor Frank Good Jr. and the Rev. Bruce Gray. Burial will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery in Stanley with military honors by the Shenandoah VFW Avis O. Comer Post 8613.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p. m. on Friday, June 8, at the funeral home.
