Betty Jean Lund (1928-2010)

Betty Jean (Leonard) Lund, beloved by her family and friends, went to heaven on March 7, 2010, with her husband at her bedside. We will miss so much her kind, humble, caring, and gentle spirit. Betty's greatest joy was her family -- husband Bert (fifty-one years of marriage); sons Jim and Dave; grandchildren Emily, Erik, Sonja, and Peter; sisters Irene (deceased) and Donna; nieces and nephews, and many more. She showed her love and devotion to them in countless ways and always enjoyed gathering with them at Christmas, on the Fourth of July at Seaside, and on other occasions.

Betty loved books. She was a grade school teacher, a school library aide for ten years, and a church librarian for ten years. She supported and delighted in her family's music interests and sang in choral groups and church choirs for over fifty years. She enjoyed traveling the world with Bert, visiting Hawaii, England, Australia, Germany, and the Panama Canal among other stops. She was active in and had many friends at Eugene's First Methodist Church.

Everyone who knew Betty liked her -- she was gracious and considerate, and had a wonderful (sometimes hidden) sense of humor. She will be remembered always for her love of others and as, in Bert's words, "the nicest, sweetest person you could ever know."
