T.C. Funburg, 87 of Checotah, died Saturday, March 6, 2010, at the VA Medical Center after an extended illness. T.C. was born in Stidham, OK on November 29, 1922 to Jim and Maggie (Simpson) Funburg. He served in the US Army during WWII and was a member of the 2nd Chemical Mortor Batallion from 1943-1945 in the European Theatre. TC received a Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart, GO 7 HQ 2d Chemical Bn 44 EAME Theatre Ribbon with four Bronze Service Stars and one Bronze Arrowhead. He married Nadine Edwards on September 4, 1947. He retired from the Ammunition Depot in McAlester, was a member of the Checotah Church of Christ, and a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and OU Sooners. He was his childrens' biggest fan when they participated in sports. TC loved his family and going to church and enjoyed fishing.He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 sister, Allie Morrison; and 4 brothers, Clifford, Sam, Jimmy and Lee Funburg. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nadine Funburg of the home; 2 sons, Gary Funburg of Harrisburg, IL, and Terry Funburg and wife Laurie of Checotah, OK; 3 daughters, Lisa Van Meter and husband Roger, Lynda Hill and husband Bruce and Sharon Scott and husband Will all of Checotah; 11 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and a host of other friends and relatives. Funeral services for T.C. will be held on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ, Checotah, OK with Everett Dunn officiating. Casket bearers will be Doug Madewell, Bruce Hill, Roger Van Meter, Bruce Hammontree, Dean Frazier, Jeff Funburg, Will Scott and Greg Christian. Military honors will be presented by the Ft. Sill Military Funeral Honors Team. Interment will follow services at Lenna Cemetery, Lenna, OK. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hampton Mortuary, Checotah.
