Bennie was raised in the Barada area attended rural School through the 9th grade. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1953 and served his country honorably . He was discharged in 1960.

He was united in marriage to Anneliese Mienko in Germany in 1954. Together they raised two children. After the service Bennie moved his family to Falls City. He worked for years as a carpet layer.

He was a past member of the Elks Lodge, he enjoyed fishing trips to Minnesota and spending time outdoors. He was proud of his 58 Etsile’s and spending time with his grandchildren.

Due to failing health Bennie entered the Falls City Care Center and it is there that on Tuesday March 2, 2010 Bennie passed away having reached the age of 80 years, 6 months, and 11 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister, and his wife Anneliese.

Those left to mourn his passing are his daughter Alice Troncin and husband Larry of Falls City, NE; son Henry Wendtlandt and wife Diane of Falls City, NE; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
