50-Year Lorain Doctor, 77 Dies

Lorain- Dr. Valloyd Adair, former Lorain Health Commissioner for about 30 years, died yesterday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Hospital after a long illness. He was 77.

Dr. Adair had practiced medicine here for about 50 years until his recent illness. A native of Winterset, Ohio he came to Lorain about 1912 and had resided here ever since with the exception of time of service with the Medical Corps in World War I. He resided at 2856 East Eire Ave.

A graduate of Ohio State Medical School Dr. Adair did post graduate work at Harvard University Medical School. He was on the staff of St Joseph Hosptial and was a member of the Lorain County and Ohio State Medical Associations.

Dr. Adair was a member of the First Congregational Church, Lorain Masonic Lodge 552. Al Koran Shine, Elk's Lodge 1301 and the Elyria County Club.

Survivors are his wife Mabel; two brothers, Roy and Thomas Adair both of Winterset, and three nephews, Dr. Robert Adair of Lorain, and Dr. Donald Adair and Dr. Charles Adair, both of Mansfield.

Friends will be received at the Reichlin-Cooley Funeraul Home after 7 pm today. Services will be Wednesday at 1 pm in the funeral home. The Rev. F.W. Loose will officate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
The family has requested that any memorial contributions be sent to St. Joseph Hosptial building fund.
