Funeral services for Bart Luce, 78, farmer of Route 2, Grapeland, were held Saturday, June 9, at 2 PM in the First Baptist church, Grapeland, with the Rev Bland Kerby and Rev M.T. Blackman officiating. Burial followed in McCarty cemetery, east of Grapeland.

Pallbearers were Donald Bennett, Wendell Caskey, Ray Whitaker, Raymond Mims, George Luce, A.C. Neal, Max Smith, and J.D. Revels.

Native and lifelong resident of Houston County, Mr. Luce was born in Grapeland on September 22, 1883. A member of the Methodist church, he died Friday (June 8) at 12:45 AM in a Crockett hospital.

Survivors: wife, Mrs. Mary Sims Luce of Grapeland; four sons, Barney Luce, Alton Luce, Leon Luce, and Arlon Luce, all of Grapeland; two daughters, Mrs. Loleta Allen of Grapeland and Mrs. Pauline Kilgore of Houston; two sisters, Mrs. Howard Guice of Grapeland, and Mrs. Ike Allen of Crockett; 23 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were by Hassell & Foster.
