Former Pastor of Rust Church Succumbs to Illness.

After an illness of long standing Rev. Daniel W. Shaw, well-known negro minister, died at his home, 309
North Main street. Monday, aged 54. Last March failing health forced him to give up his ministerial work. A
few weeks ago he came to Oberlin to spend his few remaining days. About twenty years ago Shaw was
pastor of the Rust M. E. church. He served there most acceptably for three or four years. Then he went
to Cleveland as pastor of a Congregational church. After a few years of service there he returned to the
Methodists as a member of the Washington conference. For several years he had charge of a church
in Baltimore. Rev Shaw leaves a widow and six children. Rev. White. of Cleveland, preached the funeral sermon at Rust church Wednesday afternoon.
