Rev. Calvin Clarke, a Baptist minister well known throughout the community, died last week at his residence on Smokey Creek, of Cancer of the throat.
"Calvin married Elmina Mary Clark, the daughter of Hiram Clark and Mary Stokes. Hiram was the son of Mavil Clark. Mavil never married, but it is speculated that Hiram's father was Thomas Clark, Mavil's first cousin. This Thomas Clark was the older brother of Nancy Clark Sr., who was Calvin's grandmother."
His mother was Nancy Clark who was born in 1789 in Burke, North Carolina, United States; died 6 Aug 1840 in Burke, North Carolina, United States.
