Birth address was 3, Teale Street, Bethnal Green. Came to America to Avon, WI as an infant in 1848. He was schooled in Elgin and Cherry Valley, IL. He relocated to Janesville, Rock County, WI. He enlisted February 14, 1865 and became a Private in Co. F 46th Wisconsin Volunteers in the Civil War. He was discharged September 27, 1865 in Nashville, TN. He migrated to Turner County, SD in 1887 from Rock County, WI. Received letters at least until January 2, 1929. He was in California on September 30, 1918. Letters to grandson William L. Appleby up to at least 1925. He is burried in Rosehill Cemetery in Parker, SD.
