Charleston - Ellis W. Howlett, 77 years old, circuit clerk of Mississippi County from 1935 to 1975, died Sunday at Missouri Delta Community Hospital in Sikeston.
He was a lifetime Charleston resident, born June 17, 1901, at Charleston. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge #407. He was also a member of the Charleston Kiwanis Club.
On June 7, 1935, he married Miss Evelyn Rytter. He retired in 1975.
Surviving is his wife; daughter, Mrs. Charles L. Fox; and grandchildren, Laurie Fox and Carol Sue Fox.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday at McMikle Funeral Home here. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery near here.
