Funeral services for Charles L. Lanham, USA Finance Officer Philippine Department who died in the General hospital Manila in February, will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock in Arlington Cemetery.
Col. Lanham was a native of Maryland, where he was born 47 years ago. In his youth he joined the District National Guard and at outbreak of the Spanish-American War was appointed first lieutanant of the District of Columbia infantry and was sent to Cuba. At the entrance of the United States into the world war, Col. Lanham was assigned to duty as examining officer, passing upon qualifications for commissions in the army. He also served as a member of the general staff.
In 1902, while stationed at Fort Monroe, Va., Colonel Lanham married Miss Alice Fearing of Washington. Full military honors will be given at the cemetery today.
